Digestive System

The Digestive System helps us eat food, without it we wouldn't be able to eat. It goes from the top of our body down to our bottom.

The Start of The Digestive System is at our mouth. Whenever we put food in it saliva starts to break down the food, this food then goes down into the stomach using the esophagus as a pathway.

In the stomach, acid starts to break down the food into a liquid. Once that is complete, the liquid food then goes into the small intestine.

The small intestine uses bile stored in the gall bladder, Bile is made by the liver. Bile and enzymes help to break down important things that the body needs, such as proteins, fats and carbohydrates.

The rest of that goes into the large intestine which takes out the water and the salt. After all that the rest of the food is turned into what most people call it, Poop.

That’s what the digestive system does to food, THE END

  2. Hi Bastion,
I really enjoyed reading your writing about the digestive system. Did you know that our salivary glands produce around 1.5 litres of saliva each day! From Miss Green
